OUR STORY
If we haven’t met yet, I’m Josh.
I’m a husband, father, outdoorsman, and electrician by trade. I grew up fishing, started hunting in my early twenties, and I’ve always loved sharing the outdoors with other people and teaching them what I know.
More than anything, I want to be the kind of man my family and the people around me can depend on. To me, that means being responsible, leading well, providing, protecting, and using whatever strength I have to help rather than control. I believe men have a responsibility to build up the women and children in their lives, and when they do that well, they help build stronger families and stronger communities.
In recent years, I’ve also found myself wanting something I’ve struggled to find: meaningful relationships with other men. Not just guys to talk fishing or work with, but men I can share real life with. Men I can talk to about faith, struggles, family, and the things that actually matter.
Looking back, I can see that this was part of what God was building in me before Untamed ever had a name. That desire for real community and real conversations became part of the foundation Untamed Inheritance Co. was built on.

HOW IT STARTED
I had an idea for some shirts.
The original idea for Untamed was pretty simple. I had a few T-shirt designs in my head and wanted to create Christian apparel that felt masculine, outdoorsy, and like something I would actually want to wear.
My wife, Alyssa, and I saw it as something we could build together, and in the beginning, maybe even create a little extra income from. There wasn’t a ministry plan or some grand vision behind it yet. It was simply an idea that brought together two things I already loved: my faith and the outdoors.
In early 2024, Alyssa and I took a weekend trip to Reno. I told her about the idea, and she loved it. She created our first logo, we started an Instagram page, and before long we were dreaming together about what Untamed could become.

Then life happened.
What began with a lot of excitement was quickly pushed to the side. We entered a difficult and demanding season of life, and for more than a year, Untamed sat mostly untouched.
At the time, it felt like an idea we had simply put on the back burner. Looking back now, I think God knew we weren’t in a place where we could give it the time, energy, and attention it deserved.
Eventually, that season began to settle. Alyssa and I looked at each other and both knew it was time to come back to what we had started.
We picked Untamed back up right where we had left it. We just didn’t know yet how much the vision was about to grow.

MEET ALYSSA
Before I tell you what happened next,
you should really meet my wife.
Alyssa is my wife, Isaiah’s mom, a pastor, and the person I get to dream and build alongside. She loves Jesus with a kind of passion that is hard to miss. It isn’t just something she talks about. It shapes the way she loves people, encourages them, gives of herself, and approaches just about everything she does.
Spend any real time with her and you’ll leave knowing one thing about her: that woman really loves Jesus.
That is probably what I admire most about her. She genuinely wants people to encounter Him. She cares deeply about families, about people knowing who they are in Christ, and about seeing homes built on the foundation God intended for them.
Alyssa also has a way of seeing possibility where I might only see the beginning of an idea. She creates, asks questions, dreams bigger, and then somehow figures out how to make those ideas real. I can bring her something half-formed, and before long we’re sitting together talking about what it could become.
That’s been true throughout our marriage, and it became especially true with Untamed.

I had the bones. I had an idea.
She gave it flesh. She gave it purpose.

WHEN THE VISION GREW
What started as an idea for apparel became something more.
When we came back to Untamed, Alyssa sat down to build the website, and that was when the vision really started to take shape.
The more she built, the more possibilities started coming into focus. She would bring me an idea, we would talk it through, and before long we were dreaming about what else Untamed could hold. That had always been the rhythm between us. One of us would see something, the other would add to it, and together we would keep pushing the idea further until eventually what was once something small suddenly had the potential to impact the world.
Somewhere in that process, Alyssa asked a question that changed the way we looked at what we were building: What if someone came to us for a T-shirt or a hat, but left with something that mattered far more?
She wanted people to find encouragement here, truth for their families, resources that pointed them back to Scripture, but, most of all, she wanted everything we built to give people another opportunity to encounter Jesus.
She said it simply:

“Someone could come for a T-shirt or a hat and leave with so much more. They could leave having encountered Jesus.”
That idea gave language to something both of us had carried for a long time.
Before Untamed, we had talked about serving at camps, starting a blog, and even recording some of the conversations we would have around our own dinner table. We have always loved talking about faith, family, real life, and what it looks like to follow Christ in the middle of all of it.
Untamed finally gave those conversations somewhere to live.
The clothing was still part of the vision. We just began to understand that it could be the beginning of the conversation instead of the end of it.
That was when Untamed started becoming more than a clothing company to us.

Somewhere along the way, the question stopped being only, What can we build? and became, What do we want all of this to point to?
The answer has always been Jesus.
That starts in our own home. We’re raising Isaiah to know Him, love Him, and understand that everything God places in our hands is something we are called to steward faithfully. We want him to see a faith that is lived, not just talked about, and to know that whatever we build in this life should ultimately point people back to Christ.
That is what Untamed means to us now. The apparel is part of it. The outdoors are part of it. The resources, conversations, ministry, and community are part of it. But none of those things are the destination.
Jesus is.
If Untamed strengthens a family, helps someone open their Bible, creates a conversation that matters, or gives someone another opportunity to encounter Christ, then it is doing what we believe God has called it to do.
We’re still building. We’re still learning. We don’t know how far or where God will take Untamed or what it will evolve into along the way.
Simply put, we just want to be faithful with what He has placed in our hands, point people back to Jesus, and leave behind a legacy that does the same. This is the legacy we are building.
